Sit-InsAll across the south many restaurants, cafes, and businesses were still segregated and would not serve black customers. As a result, some African-Americans decided to peacefully protest by simply sitting in the restaurants until they were thrown out and sometimes arrested. After a while, the movement went throughout all the South, even white students joined the black protestors to help them with their cause. Ultimately, the protestors were successful, but they endured a lot of cruel treatment to get there.
